Do you need an immigration lawyer?
Despite all the information on immigration laws and procedures available to the public today, a large percentage of many immigration lawyers' work continues to originate as a result of refusals or problems caused by errors made by unrepresented clients or as a result of clients represented by inexperienced or unscrupulous representatives. So, the short answer is that in most cases a client will likely be better off with the assistance of an experienced immigration lawyer right from the start of their case. It is better to do it right the first time, as it is much harder or may even be impossible in some cases to rectify a case that has already gone wrong. Nevertheless, it is of course entirely up to you whether or not you hire an immigration lawyer.
An immigration lawyer's goal should be to help you to make sure that your application is complete, correct, convincing, and most importantly - truthful. He or she should have the experience and the required detailed knowledge of the immigration laws and procedures - knowledge that extend far beyond the "step-by-step / how to" guides that are publicly available.
If you hire your own Representative, you have someone on your side who will represent your best interests, will guide you along the way, has legal training and experience in immigration matters and is confident in what he or she is doing.
